ABOUT THE ROLE

Join the dynamic Float Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where flexibility and clinical expertise are key. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide comprehensive nursing care across multiple inpatient hospital units, adapting quickly to varying client needs and environments.

This role offers unique exposure to diverse clinical settings, with a special focus on the Inpatient Rehabilitative Care Division. Here, you will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support clients  recovering from surgeries, injuries, and illnesses, helping them regain independence and improve quality of life through personalized rehabilitative care plans.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

  • Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Nurses (CNO)
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
  • Demonstrated ability to work within all clinical settings at the St. Joseph's Hospital site

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong team leadership skills
  • Excellent physical assessment skills
  • Recent experience in the administration of medications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, including clear and compassionate verbal, written, and interpersonal abilities essential for professional collaboration
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing to work across various clinical settings as needed
  • Evidence of continuing professional development experience
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

 

Asset:

  • Rehabilitation nursing experience working with clients with musculoskeletal disorders an asset
  • Completion of Stroke Education modules and Care of the Neurological Client modules an asset
  • Proficient with tracheotomies central lines subcutaneous lines tube feeds & TPN's/challenging dressings/complex medical diagnosis
  •  Comfortable with elderly clients palliative clients and clients with complex respiratory diseases
  • Demonstrated ability to work within designated complex care population is necessary
  • Must have completed applicable training sessions on assisted ventilation (BIPAP CPAP) peritoneal dialysis and AED and/or be willing to train within first month of hire
  • Experience within neurolocomotor services considered an asset

 

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
  • Offers of employment made to external candidates are conditional upon providing proof of a complete primary series of Health Canada approved mRNA COVID-19 vaccine or proof of valid medical exemption, prior to the offered effective date. If proof of vaccination or valid medical exemption is not provided, the offer of employment is rescinded.
